August 10, 2021: Grenache!
The forecast for Chicago is in the 90's and sunny. We put these bottles on our leaderboard because, served slightly chilled, it will be perfect for a 101 degree real-feel cooker. Plus-these reds are great if you need a little break from the summer Whites.
An Approach to Relaxation "Sucette" Grenache 2016
This wine is from Australia's Barossa Valley--old vines, old French barrels. Pictured below, Richard and Carla Betz globe trot between California, Amsterdam and Australia and tend to one of the oldest Grenache vineyards on the planet dating from the 1860's. They describe "Sucette" as "elegant, sumptious and sexy" -- We served it at a tasting recently, and everyone wholeheartedly agreed. Cranberry, cherry, cedar and peppery notes.
Jolie-Ladie Grenache Provisor Vineyard 2018
This Grenache is from Scott Schultz--a Sonoma winemaker producing some of the most unique and sought after wines in California. Super soft and nuaced. Look for red raspberry, strawberry, licorice, cinnamon and spice.
