Jim and Bob Varner first planted vines in 1980 and spent most of their lives at their Spring Ridge Vineyards cutting their own Burgundian styled winemaking in the Santa cruz mountains. Sadly this is One of the Last wines produced under the Varner Label as goals from winemaker and vineyard owners diverged.
