Tenuta San Guido 'Guidalberto' Toscana IGT, Tuscany, Italy 2022

A SIMILAR GENESIS TO SASSICAIA

After over twenty years of analysis and experimentation, today Guidalberto is a wine with a clear temperament that well interprets the style of Tenuta San Guido. It embraces a style that seeks aromas and sweetness on the palate, characteristics that Merlot can offer even with relatively short aging.
Sassicaia's little brother, Guidalberto is a lush Super Tuscan from the Tenuta San Guido in Bolgheri. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, fermentation takes place separately for each variety in temperature-controlled steel vats before undergoing maceration. The wine is aged 15 months mostly in French and some American oak barrels. This is the wine to drink and enjoy while you wait for your Sassicaia to mature in your cellar.
"Made with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the Tenuta San Guido 2022 Guidalberto gives you a good taste of the same DNA that brings us one of Italy's greatest wines, Sassicaia, but it's offered in a more immediate style here (thanks to the addition of the Merlot). This warm vintage opens to medium-dark concentration and very plump aromas that take you immediately to blackberry and blackcurrant sitting out in the sun at your local farmers market. The wine shows a soft and gentle side with a pretty level of elegance transmitted through the fruit freshness and the light oak spice that is discernible here but delivered with grace."  Wine Advocate 94
