Tenuta di Trinoro Le Cupole Toscana IGT, Tuscany, Italy 2022

Located in a remote corner of southeastern Tuscany, Tenuta di Trinoro specializes in rich, age-worthy red wines made of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. The Estate sits in viticultural isolation in the Orcia Valley near Sarteano, where Tuscany meets Umbria and Lazio.

The second wine of Tenuta di Trinoro, Le Cupole was first produced in 1995. The blend of the four grape varieties Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot, changes every year with the respect to the vintage. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in one to three year-old barriques and cement, Le Cupole is velvety and approachable. This wine hits the palate with exuberance, full of fleshy, bright fruit, extracted tannins, and rich colour.

57% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6% Petit Verdot.

"A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, the Tenuta di Trinoro 2022 Le Cupole remains one of Italy's greatest value buys, especially for fans of concentrated, sun-drenched Tuscan reds. The fruit is ripe, but not overripe, and there are thick layers of blackcurrant and Morello cherry at the core. These are framed by toasted spice and cinnamon. The wine is medium to full-bodied, although the ample fruit weight gives this vintage a bigger overall mouthfeel." Wine Advocate 94

“Deep, healthy crimson. Lovely freshness and integration of the ingredients on the nose, zesty mid palate and some tannin still evident pn the finish. Lighter-bodied than Trinoro 2021 released at the same time, with a little spiciness. A recognisably Tuscan variation on the Bordeauz recipe with its slightly drying finish that is really fleet of foot and not dragged down by too much oak influence nor too much extraction. It’s really rather lovely.” Jancis Robinson, 17
