Roagna Pira, Barolo DOCG, Italy 2017

VINTAGE : 2017

COUNTRY : Italy

REGION/APPELLATION : Italy, Piedmont, Barolo

VARIETALS : Nebbiolo

Pira is a historic vineyard in Castiglione Falletto, the village closest to the centre of the Barolo production zone. It is the perfect habitat for our concept of viticulture, respectful of the life of the soils. The plot is protected uphill by the Rocche di Castiglione Falletto and downhill by a small forest.
The vines used to make this wine are over 25 years old. The vines are exclusively of massal origin, with wood obtained during the pruning of the old vines in this vineyard.

Today, Alfredo and Luca Roagna take care of our vines day after day. Each vine is an individual, to be interpreted and accompanied over the years, so that its fruit can express the uniqueness of the territory in which it grows.

We oversee every phase in the cellar too, from selection to crushing, right up to the packaging of each individual bottle.

This is the work of artisans: suffice to say that each bottle of wine is picked up at least six times by a member of our family before leaving the cellar. We have no external oenologists or agronomists. We try to interpret each vineyard with our family’s experience alone.
