Roagna Gallina, Barbaresco DOCG, Italy 2018

The plot is located in the initial part of the Gallina historical mention, in the municipality of Neive. Calcareous clay soil, with a good presence of sand, gives this Barbaresco a distinct finesse.

A youthful Barbaresco that boasts crushed cherries, earth, and violets. A wine best decanted and served with hearty, wild stews and gamey poultry. Aged in large, old French and Austrian barrels.

The 2018 Barbaresco Gallina is a very pretty wine in this range. Tobacco, kirsch, mint, orange peel, red fruit, spicecake and mint lend an exotic flair. Time in the glass brings out the wine’s inner perfume and sweetness. This is such a gorgeous and inviting wine that shows the more ethereal side of the year nicely. Antonio Galloni
