Roagna Crichet Paje, Barbaresco DOCG, Italy 2015

A SELECTION OF THE MOST RENOWNED GEOGRAPHICAL MENTIONS, WITH GRAPES FROM VINES OF MASSAL ORIGIN THAT ARE OVER 50-60 YEARS OLD, OBTAINED DURING PRUNING FROM THE SAME VINEYARD.

The Crichet Paje is sourced from the top few rows of the Paje Cru, where the historic Roagna winery is located in the commune of Barbaresco. Luca's grandfather Giovanni purchased this vineyard in 1953.

The term Crichet means “high part of the small hill”, i.e. the best position for growing Nebbiolo. Pajé refers to the geographical mention of origin.  This wine is the result of the research of Giovanni Roagna, who, after years of experimentation, succeeded in selecting a unique terroir. Over the years, Crichet was aged for longer, as it needed a lot of time to mature. It became the family's personal reserve, used for the most important events. In 1978, Alfredo Roagna decided to make Crichet Pajé known to the world. So 1978 is the first vintage that can be found on the market.  This is the highest expression of the wines that our family make. Through it we are able to consider the absolute value of a wine in its complexity and longevity.

Production is very limited. The total number of bottles produced can be found on the label.

"Medium ruby-colored, the 2015 Barbaresco Crichet Paje offers another level of purity in its ripe fruit notes of candied roses, pure raspberries, wet stones, and peaches. This continues to the palate with fantastic length and balance, a seamless structure, and a long, haunting finish with lovely intensity and finesse. Outstanding and fresh, it can be enjoyed over the next 30 years. Bravo." Jeb Dunnuck 99
