Domaine Faiveley Mercurey Vieilles Vignes, Cote Chalonnaise, France 2021

VINTAGE : 2019

REGION/APPELLATION : Burgundy, Cote Chalonnaise

VARIETALS : Pinot Noir

Founded in 1825, Bourgognes Faiveley has been handed down from father to son for over 175 years. As the sixth generation to take the reins, François Faiveley manages, with equal amounts passion and competence, the largest family domaine in Burgundy. Methodically reconstructing vineyards fractured by French inheritance laws, Bourgognes Faiveley today owns more appellations in their entirety (monopoles) than any other domaine in Burgundy.

Faiveley’s wines are... supremely clean and elegant: definitive examples of Pinot Noir... above all they have richness and breed, the thumbprint of a master winemaker.

This parcel neighbors La Framboisière. The soils in Clos Rochette are very compact, hard to plough, and scattered with small rocks that give this climat its name. This parcel has been one of Domaine’s Monopoles since 1933.

Our “vieilles vignes” (old vines) are over thirty years old and produce an exceptionally aromatic wine that offers a true reflection of its Mercurey terroirs. The palate reveals a smooth, fruity attack and evolves towards notes of ripe red berries and a touch of vanilla. An intensely aromatic wine with a delicate structure and silky smooth tannins that will win over wine experts and amateurs alike.
