Chateau le Puy Cuvee Emilien, Francs Cotes de Bordeaux, France 2021

Château Le Puy is an estate located atop a rare high hill on Bordeaux’ right bank; it is exceptionally rare in that that it's in its 14th generation of consecutive ownership by the Amoreau family. That's not the only thing that makes this estate rare: these are classically-styled wines made with fully natural methods; certified biodynamic in their vineyards, all fermentations are native; no fining and filtering, and never SO2 before fermentation is complete. This wine is around 85% Merlot, with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon completing the blend: fermented in concrete and is aged for two years in neutral wood. Le Puy is glorious proof that famous châteaus aren't necessarily where the real wines are in this famous region!
