Audeant Wines Pinot Noir Luminous Hills Vineyard, Oregon 2017
Audeant Wines, the limited-production winery led by winemaker Andrew Riechers crafting top-tiered Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Rosé in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, is making headlines for their recent global acclaim awarded to them by the all-star panel of judges at the 2021 Decanter World Wine Awards.
At the London-based event which featured over 18,000 wines, their 2017 Audeant Willamette Valley Pinot Noir took home the only Platinum Medal & 97-point score awarded in the Oregon wine category - making it one of the highest rated wines in the world and the top-rated wine from Oregon in the competition. Further, with its 97-point rating, it stood shoulder to shoulder with other acclaimed California wineries as one of the top-rated wines from America.
Our 2017 Audeant Luminous Hills Vineyard is limpid and abundantly aromatic. Clean and purely driven as the rain that we hurriedly shielded the fruit from with tarps as we picked. It has the framework of tannin and acid that lend to long life in the bottle, with an overflowing core of red and blue fruit, belying its combination of ancient sedimentary and volcanic soils.
"2017 was another warmer growing season in the Willamette Valley, and Audeant winemaker Andrew Riechers says this 2017 Pinot Noir Luminous Hills Vineyard is, "the ripest wine I've ever made. But in this extreme vineyard, it often has the highest sugar and the highest acidity in a given vintage." It's drinking very well, and the nose offers a combination of kirsch and star anise with tertiary tones of desiccated flowers, truffle and dried tobacco. The medium-bodied palate is seamless and fresh with a blend of ripe fruit and earth and a flourish of spice across the long finish." Wine Advocate 94
