Araujo Eisele Vineyard Syrah, Napa Valley 2011

VINTAGE : 2011

COUNTRY : USA

REGION/APPELLATION : Napa Valley

VARIETALS : 97% Syrah 3% Viognier

Bart and Daphne Araujo founded this estate

“2011 Eisele Vineyard Syrah shows the benefits of a colder vintage for our best Syrah parcels. With all Syrah blocks harvested before the rains, the complexity and richness are coupled perfectly with this vintage’s particularly intense varietal expression. A smoky, molten liquorice note runs through the finish rendering one of the deepest, most exciting Eisele Syrahs to-date.”

Syrah was first planted on the estate in 1978. After making wine from the few remaining vines in 1991 and 1993, a serious commitment to this ancient and noble grape was made, increasing the plantings in the vineyard. Eisele Syrah is a profound, mysteriously compelling wine that reveals yet another aspect of the Eisele Vineyard's unique terroir.

Under the terms of the sales contract they left the brand names of Araujo Estate and Altagracia with Artemis, but have the possibility of reclaiming it after a certain period of time if unused.

Bart Araujo confirmed that currently they are able to use their surname Araujo in promotional material and on Accendo’s back label, but not the front.

The name Eisele Vineyard Estate will be used from the 2013 vintage for the Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon wines.
