Paitin di Pasquero-Elia 'Serraboella' Barbaresco DOCG, Italy 2017
VINTAGE : 2017
COUNTRY : Italy
REGION/APPELLATION : Italy, Barbaresco
VARIETALS : Nebbiolo
The Sorì Paitin belongs to the Pasquero-Elia heirs since 1796. It is the Serraboella warmest slope, graced with unique soils that since ages is planted with Nebbiolo. Sorì means the first place where the snow melts with the first winter sun rays. Ancient rule to select the best plots for Nebbiolo. Serraboella is the most famous cru in the Southern Neive. A long hill exposed to West that gently bends towards South getting steeper. On this very side: the steepest and the warmest, our Barbaresco has a unique expression. Power, volume are laced by a elegant texture.
" The Paitin 2017 Barbaresco Serraboella Sorì Paitin shows a level of finesse and elegance that is rare to find in this hot and dry vintage. The wine delivers seamless transitions with aromas of wild fruit, ferrous earth, licorice, tar and crushed flowers. Those nuances are delivered with enormous purity and focus, rendering a super delicate and finessed expression. There is a touch of tannin tightness here, this being the only sign of the summer heat, but the wine unfolds smoothly nonetheless. Bottle production in this vintage is about 10,000, down from 15,000 bottles made in 2016." 94
