Marine Layer Vineyard Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, USA 2022
Our six-acre Marine Layer vineyard sits on a southwest-facing slope, planted in 2016. We selected our favorite clones of Pinot Noir - Calera, Mt. Eden, 667, 115, and a few special suitcase selections. With the unique climate factors and the illustrious sandy Goldridge soil, this vineyard captures the true essence of the Sonoma Coast.
Our 2022 Marine Layer Vineyard Pinot Noir is crafted from three carefully selected clones. With a vibrant ruby hue, the nose is a captivating blend of ripe raspberries, coastal forest, and delicate herbs; a bouquet that is both complex and inviting. On the palate, this medium-bodied wine strikes a perfect balance, showcasing pure, expressive flavors of juicy pomegranate and forest floor underpinned by fine-grained tannins reminiscent of black tea. The finish is long and graceful, promising even greater depth and nuance as it evolves with time.
" Their estate Pinot, the 2022 Pinot Noir Marine Layer Vineyard is based on the Calera, Mt. Eden, Dijon, 115, and 667 clones, and it sees 35% whole cluster, but it doesn’t rear its head overtly. The wine is a youthful ruby red hue and has deeper, more expressive layers of black raspberries, grenadine, forest floor, and sweet forest herbs. Medium-bodied, it has a ripe but very pure feel, with a great deal of pure, expansive fruit filling the palate and a long, clean finish. A real charmer, it will only improve if given the chance to lean into its more earth-toned tea notes." -Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck 96 points
