Domaine de Gaubourg Rosa, IGP Val de Loire, France 2023
Located along the schist slopes of the Black Anjou, the Domaine de Gaubourg extends over six hectares along the Loire River. Once a water mill on the Aubance River, it was transformed into a guesthouse by my parents. I was born and raised facing these vineyards. I began my professional life in the kitchens of Parisian palaces. After engaging encounters and mastering the craft, I decided to return to the estate to cultivate the vines and perpetuate the culture of this land, with rigor and sincerity.
Felix Célard.
Grolleau and Cabernet Franc, 60-70 year old vines, hand harvested, fermented and aged in tank.
Rather pale strawberry, bricky cherry color. The nose is very floral. Fresh raspberry with some attractive leafy notes. A bit of finishing structure which gives a mouth-watering element to the wines. The fruit lingers. It is hard not to simply drink this. It goes down very easily, but is more "serious" and interesting than the majority of glou-glou, chilled reds. Nice red cherry flavors and some cherry pulp notes.
