Di Costanzo Caldwell Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
The 2019 Di Costanzo Caldwell Cabernet Sauvignon where only 200 cases were produced.
Di Costanzo’s passionate focus is single-vineyard, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon. At every site they source from there is a magical combination of responsible farming, mature vines, temperate micro-climates and soils formed by the region’s volcanic past. All of the Di Costanzo wines have their own distinct story, but when tasted comparatively they all exemplify the best of Napa and Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon. The Newest release presented today comes from the famed Caldwell Vineyard in Coombsville.
John Caldwell is a legend in Napa Valley. Over the last 40 years John has built Caldwell Vineyard into what is arguably one of the greatest and most unique wine estates on earth,
Six hundred feet above the Napa Valley floor in Napa’s southern-most appellation this 123-acre estate boasts steep hillsides, rolling oak meadows, and rows of grapevines framed by mountain ranges on either side. It is a spectacular place to view the world and an exceptional place to grow Bordeaux wine varieties. Our proximity to San Pablo Bay, and the geographic situation in the bowl of an ancient volcanic caldera, give us the coolest ambient temperatures and longest growing season in Napa Valley.
As they say, great wine starts in the vineyard. In this case, it couldn’t be more true.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Caldwell Vineyard presents a stunning expression of this Coombsville site. Ample and potent, the 2019 has an extra kick of mid-palate richness over the 2018. Blood orange, rose petal, spice, licorice and pomegranate all build in the glass. The Caldwell balances fruit intensity with a classical interpretation of structure. The 2019 is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine 97 Points Antonio Galloni
