Summer Dreams 'Stargazing' Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, USA 2022

Amidst the persistent wave of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon brands vying for the title of Next Big Thing, our palates were relieved to discover Hundred Acre founder Jayson Woodbridge has shifted hears with the release of Summer Dreams. His new Sonoma project features Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc sourced from some of Sonoma Coast’s most renowned vineyards. Summer Dreams is an exciting departure from what one expects from Woodbridge. He calls the project “a love letter to summers past,” where the wine embodies the essence of the season.

Each hillside vineyard site is chosen for the generous slope, unique sequence of Goldridge soils, ranging from 900-1900 feet above sea level, and microclimate to add dimension to the wines. A rare, fine-grained sandy loam, Goldridge soils are known for excellent drainage, and a characteristically light and fluffy texture. Some of the particularly unique sites have Goldridge layered on top of ancient seabed where finding fossils in the soil is not unusual and a clay content that helps the soil retain precious moisture during the growing season. The coastal climate of the region is marked by warm, dry summers and cool, damp winters.

WINE NOTES

Glimmering in the glass like a polished ruby stone, splashes of red berry fruit linger with cedar and sandalwood. Medium-bodied and electric with energy, bursts of dark fruit, earthy accents, and floral notes are framed by firm, fine-grained tannins and a racy backbone that finishes long and tingly. Spicy, complex, sensational.

"Leading off the Pinot Noirs, the 2022 Pinot Noir Stargazing sports a vivid ruby hue to go with a gorgeous nose of ripe framboise, rose petals, flowers, baking spices, and redcurrants. This carries to a medium to full-bodied Pinot Noir with remarkable purity, a soft, lush, elegant mouthfeel, and a great finish." Jeb Dunnuck 95
