Marine Layer 'Carina' Rose, Sonoma Coast, USA 2024

“Carina” is a constellation representing the hull of the Argo Navis sailing westward between the spring and fall equinoxes. Our Carina Rose comes from young vines of Pinot Noir and Grenache, planted on the far Sonoma Coast. The vines find harmony here, floating in between the opposing pulls of the ocean and stars. The Grenache in the blend hails from the southern end of the Sonoma Coast AVA, while the Pinot Noir comes from our very own Marine Layer Vineyard in Sebastopol Hills.

VINIFICATION

A blend of Pinot Noir (75%) and Grenache (25%). All fruit harvested by hand at night/first light. Pinot Noir was harvested August 24th, 2024, while Grenache was harvested September 3rd, 2024. Whole cluster direct to press, after which the juice was chilled and settled overnight. Fermented very cool for 10-12 days. Transferred to stainless steel drums and neutral French Oak barrels for élevage. 75% Pinot Noir, 20% Grenache. Bottled unfined.

TASTING NOTES

Mouthwatering and radiant, the 2024 Carina Rosé glows with a luminous coral pink hue. Bright aromas of rosehips, crisp watermelon rind, and zesty blood orange evoke the essence of a sun-drenched summer picnic. On the palate, juicy watermelon flows seamlessly into expressive notes of Pink Lady apple and vibrant wild strawberry. A lively acidity elevates the wine, culminating in a refreshing, lingering finish that invites you in for another sip.
