Marine Layer Carina Rose 2022
Carina is a constellation representing the hull of the Argo Navis sailing westward between the spring and fall equinoxes. Our Carina Rosé comes from young vines of Pinot Noir planted on the far Sonoma Coast overlooking the Pacific Ocean from their perch upon the coastal ridgelines. The vine finds harmony here, floating in between the opposing pulls of the ocean and stars.
Planted on a westerly facing slope of volcanic and mineral rich soils in the Petaluma Gap lies Hummingbird Hill. This unique site sits at 500 feet in elevation and receives a strong marine influence from the Pacific. The wind and fog reign the mornings and evenings, allowing the fruit to slowly ripen. Farming is challenging and the cold temperatures do not allow for high yields, however the layers of texture and minerality found within these wines make it all worth it. We also blend in fruit from our Estate Vineyard in the Sebastopol Hills for additional complexity resulting in a crisp, yet balanced rosé.
Mouthwatering and bright, Carina has a beautiful rose-gold hue. Fresh aromatics of hibiscus and watermelon explode from the glass. Expressive notes of golden raspberry and white peach dance on the palate with a lingering finish.
