Camino Cellars Higgledy Piggledy Red Blend, California, USA
Tadeo Bouchardt's winemaking journey, CAMINO, brought him to a junction where after fifteen years making wine for others, he's able to make and bottle his own wine and share it with family, old friends and many new ones.
His path down this road, CAMINO, brought him from a 6th grade classroom in the Arizona desert to Sonoma County to pursue my love of wine in 2002. Making wine in New Zealand along with extensive travel through winemaking cellars and vineyards throughout France and Italy has enriched his winemaking palette and provided a strong foundation on which to continue my lifelong love and pursuit of wine. Since 2004 he has been making wine for the Neyers family in the Napa Valley and now CAMINO. He live's in the town of Sonoma with my wife Sarah, and our Maya and Evan.
Born of love for old vine Carignan, I made the pilgrimage to a small town near Durban corbieres in the south of trance to visit with vigneron Maxime Magnon. After spending time with Maxime I left as if walking on a cloud. This Inspired bottling of Carignan with 10% percent Mourvedre are fermented 100% whole cluster using native wild yeasts.
The vineyards are planted in sandy soils contributing terrific high toned aromatics and a graceful palate. The wine is sun kissed, juicy, and bright echoing my favorite Carignans from the sunny south of France.
The vintage and wine are all grace and perfume. On the nose are incense, blood orange, crushed red raspberries, and fresh turned earth. The palate is juicy. fine. and long echoing the aromas and filling the senses.
