We are exhilarated to present to you the wines from our friends Erin and Massimo Di Costanzo and their namesake winery in Napa Valley. In 2002 with a Viticulture and Enology diploma in hand, Massimo apprenticed on four continents eager to learn his craft and the culture of wine on the global stage. He laid down roots in Napa Valley working for several small and esteemed estate wineries where he began to articulate his own winemaking vision.
We have been followers since the first vintage in 2010 where only four barrels were produced. We are very humbled to be offered their wines as the demand continues to grow to a sold-out mailing list and critic praise alike.
Today we feature the wines from both the 2017 and 2018 vintages.
Farella Vineyard The 26-acre Farella Vineyard in Coombsville hosts the oldest known Cabernet Sauvignon vines in the appellation. The site benefits from its west-facing, volcanic hillsides bathed in warm, afternoon sun, making it amongst the warmest sites in the traditionally temperate appellation.
Monticello Vineyard The Montecillo Vineyard planted in 1968 is west-facing, over 1,725 feet in elevation, and not far from the mountain ridgeline dividing Napa and Sonoma counties.
Di Co DI CO remains a wine of stellar quality, made from start to finish to be a serious, collectable and energetic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This is an intentionally and correctly made single vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, not barrels that didn’t make the cut for a reserve project, nor bulk juice sourced for a side project.
2017 Di Costanzo Farella Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville $115
In most vintages, Di Costanzo Farella Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon production is about 250-350 cases. In 2017, they harvested one block of Cabernet Sauvignon the morning before the devastating fires swept through the Napa Valley. As such, only three perfect barrels were produced.
2018 Di Costanzo Farella Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville $125
"This is a reference point wine for Coombsville. In a word: magnificent.”
2017 Di Costanzo Montecillo Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Moon Mountain $95
An outstanding debut from a tremendously rewarding vintage when in the right hands.
2018 Di Costanzo Montecillo Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Moon Mountain $100
"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Montecillo Vineyard is flat-out stunning."
2018 Di Costanzo DI CO Cabernet Sauvignon $55
To find hillside Cabernet Sauvignon vines of this health and age in Napa Valley is rare. Sourced from a single vineyard.
